AI Chat Widget (“Ask Tom’s AI”)
This site features an AI-powered chat widget that answers questions based on published blog content. Important privacy details:
No messages are stored or logged. The chat is completely stateless. Your questions are sent to a third-party AI model for processing and the response is returned to your browser. Nothing is saved on our servers after the response is delivered.
No conversation history. Each question is independent. We do not maintain any record of previous questions or sessions.
No personal data collected. The chat widget does not ask for or collect your name, email, or any identifying information.
Rate limiting. To prevent abuse, we track a hashed (anonymized, non-reversible) version of your IP address to enforce a daily question limit. This hash is stored temporarily (24 hours) and cannot be used to identify you. It is automatically deleted after expiry.
Third-party processing. Your questions are processed by Google’s Gemini AI API. Google’s data processing terms apply to the API interaction. Per Google’s API terms, API data is not used to train their models.
No cookies. The chat widget does not set any cookies.
Changes to This Policy
This policy may be updated occasionally. The “Last updated” date at the top reflects the most recent revision.
